For the fourth and last release in 2022, we have fundamentally changed used and connected technologies. The PHP code base skips version 8.0 and ensures compatibility with PHP version 8.1 with JobRouter® 2022.4. Benefit from better performance through the just-in-time (JIT) compiler, which optimizes the execution of PHP code. The JobStart module now connects to shared mailboxes and supports multiple Microsoft Azure tenants.

The most important innovations at a glance

Web setup with a new look

The web setup introduced in JobRouter® 3.0 has been completely redesigned with the new release. A new look with improved user guidance simplifies the initial setup of the JobRouter® web application. Configuration steps that are not mandatory, such as creating a JobStart or JobMail configuration, are completely omitted in the setup. As before, they can still be configured in the administrative JobRouter® settings after setup.

PHP 8.1 provides performance optimizations

With a new JobRouter®generation, it was also necessary to adapt the underlying technology to the current state. Therefore, JobRouter® 2022.4 supports PHP version 8.1 and benefits from its performance optimizations and other improvements. JobRouter® takes care of updating PHP 8.1 by default. However, users should be careful with custom scripts in processes or system activities using PHP. When updating to JobRouter® version 2022.4, these custom code extensions must be compatible with PHP 8.1. Details on how to do this can be found in the release notes.

Support for shared email mailboxes and Microsoft Azure connectivity

Shared mailboxes could previously be accessed with JobStart on Microsoft Exchange using a workaround with basic authentication. Since Microsoft disabled basic authentication, adjustments were necessary in JobRouter® to continue retrieving emails from shared mailboxes. Starting with JobRouter® 2022.4, it is possible to specify alternative mailboxes - not the primary mailbox of the user(s).

In addition, integration with Microsoft Azure is progressing. With the new version, we have also further extended the connection of Azure organizations with JobStart. Instead of connecting only one Azure organization so far, you can now also specify a different Azure tenant per mailbox configuration.

Further JavaScript functions support the JobRouter® Mobile App

The JobRouter® Mobile App comes out in a new version alongside this release and supports more JavaScript functions in the sub-table area.

  • jr_add_subtable_row
  • jr_remove_subtable_row

The two functions mentioned are backward compatible up to JobRouter® version 5.2. You can use these without upgrading to 2022.4.
